President's Report

August 2008

Hello Members,

Its newsletter time again and how time escapes us so quickly as it was just yesterday it seems Sharon sent out the last one.

I want to say to the membership, it has been a very good year, thanks to all of you who have so graciously supported me and this Board in our quest for the betterment of the breed and Club. I would like to summarize a few of the positive things that have been accomplished in just a few short months:

  1. Completion, printing of the Illustrated Standard, and producing the Power Point Presentation by the Illustrated Standard Committee. Kelley you and your committee successfully completed the much needed educational materials. Thanks

  2. Workable committee descriptions were developed by the board that will project the committee's into full speed ahead in their development and advancement.

  3.  Our Affiliate Council was put into place under the leadership of Richard and the clubs are coming into their own and growing in numbers. How exciting, won't be long and we will be able to have clubs in all areas of US and I understand there is even interest in Canada.

  4. The Performance area has been accepted by Kathy Brown and with her committee she is in the process of gathering all the information she needs to begin putting into place guidelines. Please respond to the survey that you will find in this Newsletter.

  5. The Constitution and By Laws were passed, are in place and will certainly help this club function in a much more efficient manner and serve us all in many clarification issues.

  6. The web site is under the masterful guidance of Alex and what a job he has done for ATFTC.

  7. The Mentor and Presenter Programs were implemented at the National and will be an annual scheduled event for those wanting to possible serve in those positions.

  8. The Historian, Chris has really done a great job collecting the record information that will be eventually put into comprehensive issues by volumes. Her work was shown at the National this year. She still needs some information on some of the original dogs registered. So if you have such please send it to her.

  9. One of the biggest goals that has been accomplished is the locating of a Rescue person who would take the reigns and get Rescue into its separate organizations which would provide many advantages for everyone. Thanks Pat you are so welcome and appreciated.

  10. The awards, in quality and appearance are now something members will be proud to hang on their walls, kennels, etc. Medallions are also in the process of being developed, thanks to Dianne.

  11. Tee shirts, auctions items, etc, continue to improve thanks to Lynn. Any ideas on Tee Shirts, please get such to Lynn for next year.

  12. Annual Banquet, at Shorty's was also a success this year as Linda did a bang up job and looking for ways to make it even better next year. As show chairman for 09, she has begun some preparations and will be needing the help of many. Please offer suggestions and manpower. She also has assumed the role of commuting the committee reports to the Board each meeting. Good job Linda.

  13. Membership keeps gaining and Cindy (by the way is doing much better, remission) has begun posting applications to the web site for input from the membership, prior to the Board voting on them.

  14. Treasurer's method of reporting with an approved income/expense sheet, has all the transactions that ATFTC engages in at all time, and was and will be available at each National for any members review. Susan, great job and AFTC is fortunate to have you in this position.

  15. The Toy Fox Terrier expertise of Margi Hill has also made this Board much more efficient and so glad Margi was willing to come aboard and fill a vacancy.

  16. Our Pins continue to be a favorite and Lois has us on track with them, if you want one let her know.

  17. As you all know we were fortunate to have a "CERTIFIED PARLIAMENTARIAN" who is also a Federal Judge, in the wings to assist us when questions, etc. come up that we want to make sure about in deciphering or clarifying items. Thanks Roberta, the ATFTC is fortunate to have your expertise.

  18. Your Secretary, what can I say, Sharon words can not thank you enough for all you do for this club as Secretary. Folks the records are so complete, and the NEWSLETTER? Well, nothing can be said, except, it is becoming something all members can be proud of, thanks to you. You are the best. Folks get items to Sharon for implementing into the Newsletter.

  19. Look at the Advertising we have received from the members! How proud to place your ads so all members can see the progress that is being made in the breed.

  20. All the members who have supported the many seminars now being given throughout US with bringing their dogs for the future judges to see, have hands on, and experience the rewards of your breeding programs, is one concept of your participation as a member in support of your breed. Thank you.

  21. I know I am missing many contributors to the breed and the Parent club thus far this year and it is not intentional, but the above are just a few of the items, projects, accomplishments, etc. that I am so proud of being achieved thus far.

We have a long way to go, and hopefully we will never stop trying to improve any thing that can be improved. As always in life we will have those who for what ever reason chose not to support progress will attempt to slow the growth down, but it appears something has happened in this club and the camaraderie among the members is to be commended.

Hope you had a great summer, which is almost over, and look forward to hearing from you with your ideas, suggestions, and positive input for the continuation of traveling the road we have taken.
